Profiles of Leaders

 

President and Chief Executive Officer: Dr. Alvin Martel
Dr. Martel holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from Cornell University's Samuel Johnson Graduate School of Management, and a Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) degree from Harvard Business School. His teaching and research interests include international governance models, ethics, and compliance. He has worked for Harper Collins and Blackwell Science. While working for Blackwell Science, he helped the company to grow by over 25%.

 

Director of Life Sciences: Dr. Patrick Spencer
Dr. Spencer has a Medical Degree (M.D.) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in neuroscience from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his clinical training in neurology at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He specializes in neurodegenerative disorders, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALC), Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson's disease. He has over 30 years of experience in developing, writing, reviewing, and editing research manuscripts.

 

Director of Physical Sciences: Dr. Shreya Venkatesan
Dr. Venkatesan has a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in statistics from Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in systems engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Her teaching and research interests include the design, application, and optimization of digital, adaptive, and artificial intelligence techniques in the control and protection of smart grids and power systems.

 

Director of Humanities: Dr. Evelyn Ferguson
Dr. Ferguson holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree from the University of Bristol, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (D.Phil.) in linguistics from the University of Oxford. Her research interests include discourse analysis, language acquisition theories, semiotics, typologies, and textual analysis. Like the other directors, Dr. Ferguson has extensive experience in scientific writing, and has published widely in peer-reviewed research journals. She loves the process of assisting researchers in optimizing their manuscripts to increase their chances of publication in respected research journals.

 

Director of Social Sciences: Dr. Carlton Wallace
Dr. Wallace has a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in sociology from Dietrich College at Carnegie Mellon University, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Anthropology from Emory University. His teaching and research interests include investigations of human settlements and land use along the Tigris River during the the Middle Bronze Age (2000-1700 BC) and the Euphrates River in the Iron Age (1700-600 BC), in southeastern Turkey.

 

Director of Natural Sciences: Dr. Keegan O'Sullivan
Dr. O'Sullivan has a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in applied physics from the University of Essex, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (D.Phil.) in particle physics from the University of Edinburgh. His teaching and research interests include the use of highly-oriented polycrystalline thin films as templates for the creation of novel nanocomposites. His research team is also involved in the development of analytical and computational tools to evaluate the performance of semiconductor nanostructures.
